Jim is now enjoying his 45th year involved in the oil and gas industry.

He began his career in 1978, working on the drilling rigs in Northern Alberta as a roughneck, working his way into a drilling supervisory position up until 1983. Jim left the drilling rigs to get more involved in the service sector of the oil and gas industry, ultimately working for HOMCO (later merged into Weatherford International) where he was a wireline assistant and put in charge of dispatching and maintenance of fishing tools.

Jim later worked for CEDA Reactor where he worked his way up to operating at and supervising shut-downs on various types of oil and gas operations throughout Western Canada. This work gave him extensive exposure, experience and insights to wellsite facilities, the Oil Sands at Syncrude and Suncor, and all types of exploration and drilling projects, gas plants, as well as oil and gas refineries.

The experience gained in the field, especially pertaining to operations and safety procedures in the downstream oil and gas industry, allowed Jim to establish himself as a recognized field expert where he today provides his consulting services to the oil and gas sector. Through his company, Tectonic Energy Consulting Inc., Jim provides specialized services to a diverse range of clients.  His staff works with local and international clients to provide experienced drilling, completion and safety supervisors; wellsite geologists; geomatic analysts, oil & gas security consultants; and emergency response, risk management and business continuity planners on projects in the oil & gas, mining and forestry industry.

Jim continues to expand his knowledge in this ever-intriguing industry and looks forward to working alongside his clients to find and provide them with best and most appropriate solutions to their operational challenges.

In my experience, Jim Seweryn and Tectonic have proven that their services are professional, high standard, dependable, and cost competitive. Their successful business model provides the advantage of a broad range of solutions from a single source.
